Hereford Sightseeing |

|---|---|---|---|
| Hereford is a city of great antiquity. Its medieval bridge across the River Wye and the Cathedral Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St Ethelbert towering above it, stand as monuments to its distinguished past. The history of Hereford can be traced to the early 7th century AD when Saxon settlers fortified the site against the marauding Welsh. Situated adjacent to a ford over the River Wye, the name is said to derive from the Old English, "ford used by the army".

Loch Lomond & The Trossachs |
|||
|---|---|---|---|
| Discover the beauty of Loch Lomond, the largest expanse of freshwater in Britain, the wild glens and sparkling lochs of The Trossachs National Park - homeland of Rob Roy MacGregor. Contrasting from rolling lowland landscapes in the south to high mountains in the north, the national park has many lochs and rivers, forests and woodlands. Two worlds collide here. The gentle Lowlands end abruptly at the Highland Boundary Fault and give way to the mountainous landscape with narrow glens and slender lochs which has fired the imagination of writers and poets for centuries. Steeped in history the National Park straddles the kingdoms of three ancient Celtic peoples - Scots, Picts and Britons and they brought with them their rich tradition of folklore, myth and legend.

The Ffestiniog Railway is the oldest railway company in the World still running trains, being founded by Act of Parliament in 1832. The railway was built as a gravity and horse drawn line to transport slate from the quarries in the mountains around Blaenau Ffestiniog.
