From Bangkok, board the Eastern & Oriental Express for a thrilling journey through north east Thailand and on across the Mekong to the fascinating capital city of Laos, Vientiane, and finally fly to Luang Prabang in Northern Laos and uncover its rich and cultural heritage.

 

Saturday - Monday : Bangkok

Arrive in Bangkok, stay for three nights at The Oriental Hotel, Superior River Wing room. Optional sightseeing is available. Thailand's history lives on in a city teeming with monks, river barges, colourful markets and, of course, a superb range of restaurants offering the very best in Thai cuisine.

 

(Breakfast included).

 

 

Tuesday : Eastern & Oriental Express

Depart Bangkok early in the afternoon. Relax in the bar car, the saloon car or the privacy of your own compartment. Afternoon tea is served as you travel into northern Thailand. Enjoy dinner and the first night on board.

 

(Breakfast and lunch included. Overnight on board).

 

 

Wednesday : Eastern & Oriental Express

The train arrives at Hin Dat after breakfast. Disembark for a tour to Phimai, a World Heritage Site, and one of the most important Khmer monuments in Thailand. Return to the train for lunch and continue to Khao Yai. Here, visit local vineyards and have the opportunity to taste "new latitude wines". Rejoin the train early in the evening, in time for dinner.

Thursday : Vientiane

The train arrives at the Friendship Bridge, linking Thailand with Laos, in the morning. The newly opened part of the railway allows the Eastern & Oriental Express to cross directly into Vientiane, arriving at Thanaleng station around 9.30am. A morning orientation tour is included en route to the hotel Settha Palace for one night.

 

(Breakfast included).

 

 

Friday - Sunday : Luang Prabang

Lao Airlines flight to Lauang Prabang. Stay for three nights at La Résidence Phou Vao Mountain View room including dinner on two evenings. On a day of your choice, a full-day city tour with lunch is included.

Monday : Bangkok

Return flight to Bangkok.
