The Danube Express normally comprises eight cars headed by a modern electric locomotive. The cars provide a high level of comfort and convenience, consisting of three deluxe sleeping cars, two classic sleeping cars, restaurant car, lounge car and a car for the staff. All are new or refurbished and fully air-conditioned.
The deluxe sleeping cars offer the last word in guest comfort, featuring compartments with all lower beds and private shower and WC. The Danube Express is one of the few trains combining luxury with en-suite facilities.
The classic sleeping cars have washbasins in each compartment, with shower and toilet facilities within each carriage. Each sleeping car has a fully dedicated member of staff who will be at your service throughout the journey, in charge of housekeeping and that all-important wake-up call.
The lounge car, where you can meet fellow travellers, relax over a drink and spend the evening before retiring to your cabin, is open throughout the journey. The lounge is the focal point of the train. You will always find a member of staff to assist you or serve you with that welcome drink. During the journey there's nothing better than relaxing here, watching the scenery pass by and chatting to fellow travellers.
The lounge car comes alive before dinner when most passengers meet up for their pre-dinner drinks. After dinner the party continues into the small hours with the train's pianist playing your favourite songs.

Night owls need have no fear - there will always be tea, coffee, beer, wine and soft drinks available to keep you company at all hours, all included in the original price of your holiday, however passengers will be required to pay for any spirits consumed.
One of the most enjoyable aspects of rail travel is the experience, ever rarer in today's world, of fine dining on a train in good company. all meals are served in a single sitting allowing you to relax, unrushed, to enjoy the sense of occasion.
Breakfast is a "come as you please" meal with juice, rolls, tea, coffee, cereal or a cooked to order variation. Lunch and dinner are table d'hôte served with wine and tea or coffee. water and soft drinks are also provided.
All meals are freshly prepared in the kitchen by the experienced chefs. Although the meals have a "Central European" theme, the menus are chosen to appeal to all tastes and dietary requirements can be accommodated.
