Aintree Grand National

The day incorporates a full race program but of course the main event is the Grand National itself. Since the very first National was held in 1839, this event has grown in popularity and has earned its' place in British culture and sporting history. Run over 4 miles and including 30 jumps, this is the highlight of the day. Watch 40 jockeys and their horses take on the challenge of Bechers' Brook, The Canal Turn and one of the longest finishing straights in steeplechase racing. Whilst we can't predict the winner we can guarantee and unforgettable and fun-filled day.
Festival Zone

Chester Racecourse, known as the Roodee, is according to official records the oldest racecourse still in use in England. Horse racing at Chester dates back to the early sixteenth century. It was granted a Royal charter in 1539 when the Lord Mayor Mr Henry Gee convinced the King to grant him to permission run a race meeting; hence the phrase "a day at the Gee Gee's". What to wear :
Ladies within the main Grandstand enclosure are encouraged to dress in a manner as befits a formal occasion. Ladies are kindly asked to take particular note of the following:
- • A hat, headpiece or fascinator should be worn at all times.
- • Strapless or sheer strap dresses and tops are not permitted.
- • Trousers must be full length and worn with a top that adheres to the guidelines above (i.e. strapless or sheer strap tops are not permitted).
- • Jackets and pashminas may be worn but dresses and tops underneath should still comply with the Grandstand Admission dress code. Midriffs must be covered.
- • Shorts are not permitted.
• Gentlemen are required to wear a suit with a shirt and tie.

The Cosford Air Show is the only RAF annual air show in 2018 and marks the centenary of the RAF, so this year's show is set to be truly spectacular. In the skies you can witness daredevil flying whilst on the ground there are superb displays featuring aircrafts spanning the 100 years of the RAF. Cosford airfield is relatively small and has retained the character of an old RAF base. Today it is home to the Defence College of Aeronautical Engineering as well as a branch of the RAF Museum. As such the site is full of former RAF equipment for trading the ground trades of the armed forces as well as the collection from the RAF Museum.
