Fares start from £3,885 per person for a Historic Twin Cabin on the Paris to Venice or Venice to Paris route in 2026. Suite fares start from £8,785 per person and Grand Suite fares from £12,300 per person. All fares include all meals on board. The most expensive single-journey option is the Grand Suite on the Paris to Istanbul route, which starts from £63,000 per person including five nights of hotel accommodation. All fares include cabin accommodation on board, breakfast served in your cabin by your steward, table d'hote lunch and dinner in the restaurant cars, afternoon tea, and the services of a personal cabin steward throughout the journey. Bathrobes, slippers and Temple Spa amenities are provided in all cabin types.
Four main factors influence the price: the route (longer routes and more popular cities cost more), the date (peak season departures in summer and autumn are more expensive), the cabin type (Historic Twin, Suite or Grand Suite), and availability (like airline pricing, fares rise as seats are booked). Booking early almost always gives access to the lowest available fare.
The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express departs from Paris. The iconic dark blue continental carriages wait at the Gare de l'Est. If you are travelling from the UK, the most straightforward approach is to take Eurostar from London St Pancras to Paris and join the VSOE there. We can arrange the Eurostar connection as part of your overall booking.
Suites and Grand Suites have private en suite bathrooms with toilet, shower and washbasin. Historic Twin Cabins have a washbasin inside the room but share toilets at the end of each carriage. There are no laundry facilities on board.
For dinner, the minimum requirement for gentlemen is a lounge suit and tie. Many guests choose black tie, which is actively encouraged. Ladies should wear smart evening attire. Daytime dress is smart casual throughout. Jeans, shorts, T-shirts and trainers are not acceptable on board at any time.
The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express operates from mid-March to December each year. See our timetables page for all departure dates in 2026 and 2027.
Children can be accommodated on board. There are no dedicated children's facilities and the atmosphere is primarily designed for adult guests. The train manager has discretion over whether children may accompany parents in the bar and restaurant cars.
Smoking and vaping are not permitted anywhere on board the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express.

About the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express

The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express is composed of original 1920s and 1930s Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits carriages, each painstakingly restored to its original elegance. The Art Deco interiors include marquetry panels, Lalique glass and bespoke silverware that have been repaired and restored using period techniques. Each carriage is individually decorated and no two cabins are the same.

From the moment you board at the Gare de l'Est in Paris, a personal steward attends to your cabin and your every need. Breakfast and afternoon tea come to your compartment. Lunch and dinner are served in one of the three restaurant cars by Italian waiters. The Bar Car, the social heart of the train, is famous for its cocktails and the atmosphere that has drawn royalty, celebrities and writers to it since the 1920s. In the evening, dressing for dinner is very much part of the experience, and the combination of exceptional food, extraordinary surroundings and the company of fellow travellers from around the world makes for an evening that is very difficult to forget.

The train operates from mid-March to December. Fares include all meals. The carriages are original and some limitations of the 1920s design remain, most notably that the Historic Twin Cabins share facilities rather than having private bathrooms. This is part of the authentic character of the train and adds to rather than detracts from the experience for most guests.
