Everything you need to know before you travel on the Belmond British Pullman, from timings and dress codes to dietary requirements, seating arrangements and special requests.
Timings
All timings shown on this site are for guidance only. Confirmed timings will be supplied with your travel documents. The British Pullman operates within the constraints of the rail network and timings may not be confirmed until 7 days prior to the excursion. Please check in 30 minutes before departure.
Dress Code
Smart day wear is the order of the day — please do not wear jeans or trainers. For outdoor events, please wear practical clothing and footwear. For New Year’s Eve Dinner, smart black tie is required. For Royal Ascot and similar events, more formal wear is appropriate.
Food & Dietary Requirements
Your fare includes table d’hôte meals on the journey. Menus are subject to seasonal change. If you have any special dietary requirements, please advise us at the time of booking and we will do our best to comply. We regret we are unable to provide meals requiring strict religious observance in the preparation.
Seating
Accommodation is at tables for one, two, three or four. Tables for two are very much in demand and should be booked early if required.
Steam Hauled Trips
Where steam hauled trips are advertised, every effort will be made to operate using steam traction for all or part of the journey. It is possible that diesel or electric traction may have to be substituted at short notice.
Insurance
Travel insurance is advised for your peace of mind. It should cover you in case you have to cancel. Please see Terms and Conditions.
Smoking
With apologies to smokers, Belmond operates a strict non-smoking policy aboard the British Pullman train throughout the entire journey.
Mobile Phones
Out of consideration for your fellow passengers, please turn mobile phones to silent whilst in the Pullman carriages. We ask that calls are not made from the carriages during the journey.
Disabled Passengers
Since the carriages date from earlier decades, they cannot be boarded in wheelchairs. However, if you are able to walk a short distance, Belmond staff can assist passengers to their seats and folding wheelchairs can be stored in the vestibules. Some excursions are more suitable for disabled travellers — please ask us for details.
Departures
All excursions are scheduled to depart from and return to the stations described in the itineraries. On some dates, due to engineering works, the train may depart from or arrive at a different station. We will advise you of any changes as soon as they are known.
Transfers
Nearly all excursions include a coach journey, either to transfer you to your final destination or as part of a guided tour. Coaches are accompanied by a guide. Wherever practicable, we use the nearest mainline station to the destination. An itinerary will be provided with your booking confirmation.
