A Budapest and Paris Holiday, Home by Eurostar
This is a journey that saves the best of the old world for the middle. You begin with three unhurried nights in Budapest, the great city on the Danube, with time to explore both the castle heights of Buda and the grand boulevards of Pest. Then comes the centrepiece: you board the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express in Budapest and settle in for an overnight journey west to Paris, dining, sleeping and waking to the changing landscapes of Hungary, Austria and France. From Paris, a short transfer brings you to the Eurostar and a swift, comfortable ride home to London — the perfect modern coda to a thoroughly romantic trip.
Every part of it — flights, hotel, the train, the Eurostar and all the transfers in between — is arranged for you by our UK-based specialists.

Three Nights in Budapest
Fly from London Heathrow to Budapest and transfer to your chosen hotel for a three-night stay. The Danube divides the city into two contrasting halves. On the hilly Buda side are the cobbled lanes of the Castle District, Matthias Church, and the fairy-tale turrets of the Fisherman's Bastion with their sweeping views across the river. Across the water lies Pest, the city's grand commercial heart — Heroes' Square, the vast riverfront Parliament building, the Great Market Hall, the Museum of Fine Arts and the gilded State Opera House are all well worth your time. Breakfast is included each morning, and the days are yours to explore at leisure.
Breakfast included · Three nights in Budapest
Aboard the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express
This morning you board the midnight-blue carriages of the Orient Express at Budapest Keleti station for the overnight journey to Paris. Welcomed by your steward and shown to your cabin, you settle in as the train slips out of the city. The hours unfold gently: brunch in the panelled dining cars, afternoon tea served in your cabin, and, as evening falls, a four-course dinner prepared fresh by the on-board chefs, followed by a nightcap in the bar car. You sleep as the train crosses Austria and journeys on through the night toward France.
Brunch, afternoon tea & dinner included · One night on board
Eurostar Home to London
Breakfast is served in your cabin as the train arrives in Paris at Gare d'Austerlitz. Bid farewell to the Orient Express and transfer the short distance to Gare du Nord, where the Eurostar waits to carry you home in Standard Premier comfort, arriving at London St Pancras International. Alternatively, we can arrange for you to spend an extra night or two in Paris before returning — simply ask.

The City on the Danube

Budapest rewards three nights handsomely. Begin in Buda, climbing Castle Hill for Matthias Church and the Fisherman's Bastion, then cross one of the great bridges to Pest for Heroes' Square and the extravagant Parliament building on the river. Art lovers should not miss the Museum of Fine Arts, and an evening at the Hungarian State Opera House — one of Europe's most beautiful — is a memorable way to spend a night. And no visit is complete without an hour or two in one of the city's grand thermal baths.
