London to Venice on the
Venice Simplon-Orient-Express
and vice versa

The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express embarks on exceptional journeys to some of Europe's greatest destinations, including the classic London to Venice route or vice versa.

The Belmond British Pullman carriages, which have day car seating, will carry you in vintage style between London and Folkestone whilst you enjoy a brunch with Bellini on board. At Folkestone you are escorted by hostesses on to luxury coaches for your 30-minute Eurotunnel shuttle service to France. Upon arrival in Calais, you board the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express carriages on which you will travel for the rest of your European adventure.

LONDON - PARIS - VENICE

2 days / 1 night

Day 1 - London : Check in at London Victoria station at the dedicated Belmond office by platform 2. Your luggage with either be checked in to be in your VSOE compartment, or checked right through to Venice. Space is limited in your compartment so it is advised that you pack a small case for what you will need on board the train, with other luggage checked through to your final destination. If you have booked an inclusive package with us, this will go straight through to your hotel.

As you board the gleaming carriages of Belmond British Pullman at London Victoria station, your steward will show you to your reserved seat. Sit back and enjoy brunch with a Bellini as you travel through the Kentish countryside. At Folkestone you will transfer onto luxury coaches for your Eurotunnel shuttle service. The Channel crossing itself is approximately 30 minutes long although from train to train may take 1 - 2 hours depending on customs. Hostesses will escort you and assist with customs and immigration formalities. Upon arrival in France, you will board the blue and gold carriages of the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express.

Throughout your journey you will be attended by your own personal Steward who will welcome you on board with a glass of sparkling wine. After you have settled into your comfortable private compartment it will soon be time to dress for dinner. Why not sip a pre-dinner cocktail before making your way to one of the three magnificent restaurant cars (Try the 'Guilty Twelve' cocktail, with secret ingredients that only the bar man knows and was inspired by the novel, 'Murder on the Orient Express'). Here you will be served a delicious four-course dinner, prepared by the train's skilled French chefs. After dinner you may want to linger in the bar car, listening to the sound of the baby grand piano. When you are ready, retire to your compartment, which has now been transformed into a cosy bedroom by your cabin steward.

Day 2 - Venice : You awake to the magnificent scenery of the Swiss Alps as breakfast is served in your compartment at a time to suit you. Spend the morning in the Bar Car chatting to fellow guests over coffee or relax in your compartment. Most guests prefer to leave their compartment door open so that they can see the scenery on both sides of the train, as well as chat to other passengers in the corridor. Later, enjoy a leisurely three-course lunch served in another of the beautiful restaurant cars. The train will stop for a short time around lunch time, preparing to cross the border into Italy. While away the afternoon with a visit to the on board Boutique to purchase souvenirs, or relax in your compartment and admire passing scenery as the train travels through the Italian Dolomites. Later, afternoon tea is served in your compartment as you travel through the Italian countryside. All too soon it is time to prepare to disembark as the train crosses the Venetian Lagoon and pulls into Santa Lucia station.

VENICE - PARIS - LONDON

2 days / 1 night

Day 1 - Venice : Board the splendid Wagons-Lits carriages of the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express at Venice Santa Lucia station. Your steward will show you to your private compartment and will attend you throughout your journey. After you have settled in it will soon be time to enjoy a three-course lunch in one of the beautifully restored restaurant cars. Spend the afternoon relaxing in the comfort of your compartment gazing at the beautiful passing scenery of the Italian Dolomites and the Swiss Alps, or chatting with fellow travellers in the Bar Car. Afternoon tea is served in your compartment.

Time for dinner. Although not a prerequisite (jacket and tie for gentlemen is a minimum), a black-tie certainly adds to the sense of occasion and atmosphere on board. Sip an aperitif in the Bar Car, listening to the sounds of the baby grand piano before taking your seat in another of the magnificent restaurant cars. A leisurely four-course dinner is served, prepared on board by our skilled French chefs. After dinner you may want to linger in the Bar and when you are ready, retire to your compartment which has now been transformed into a cosy bedroom.

Day 2 - London : Breakfast is served in your compartment by your steward at a time to suit you. The train pulls into Paris Gare de l'Est and halts for 40 minutes. Take this opportunity to stretch your legs along the platform and watch the bustling activity; passengers boarding, chefs choosing produce for brunch, Parisians coming and going. A delicious brunch is served in the restaurant cars as you travel on towards the French coast for the Channel crossing. Say goodbye to the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express as you board luxury coaches for the shuttle journey through the tunnel to Folkestone, where you meet Belmond British Pullman

Board the cream and umber carriages of the British Pullman for the journey to London. A traditional English afternoon tea accompanied by a glass of champagne is served to you at your table as you watch the gentle scenery of Kent pass by. Suddenly, you are drawing into London Victoria station. It may be the end of your journey but the memories will last a lifetime.
