Day 1 : Venice

Fly from London Heathrow to Venice where you transfer by water taxi to your hotel for a three night stay.

Days 2 - 3 : Venice

Follow in the footsteps of history and explore this beautiful city with its canals and bridges at leisure. The Piazza San Marco - the drawing room of Europe - is on your doorstep, as well as a wealth of galleries and museums. Entrance tickets for the Doge's Palace are included. Take a leisurely ride on a Gondola around the narrow canals or board on of the busy Vaporetto boats for a trip along the Grand Canal. Alternatively, take one of the Alilaguna boats across the lagoon to The Lido or the island of Murano to see the famous glass-making factories.

Day 4 : Venice Simplon-Orient-Express

After breakfast at your hotel, say farewell to Venice as you are transferred via water-taxi to Santa Lucia Station for the highlight of your holiday. Depart mid-morning on board the blue and gold carriages of the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express and travel through the wonderful scenery of Italy, Austria and Switzerland.

Afternoon tea and pastries are served before arrival into Innsbruck late afternoon. Enjoy a gastronomic dinner, served in one of the beautifully restored restaurant cars, and perhaps a night cap (or two) in the bar before an overnight on board.

Day 5 : Venice Simplon-Orient-Express

Breakfast is served in your compartment by your steward at a time to suit you. The train pulls into Paris Gare de l'Est and halts for 40 minutes. Take this opportunity to stretch your legs along the platform and watch the bustling activity; passengers boarding, chefs choosing produce for brunch, Parisians coming and going. A delicious brunch is served in the restaurant cars as you travel on towards the French coast for the Channel crossing. Say goodbye to the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express as you board luxury coaches for the shuttle journey through the tunnel to Folkestone, where you meet Belmond British Pullman.

Board the cream and umber carriages of the British Pullman for the journey to London. A traditional English afternoon tea accompanied by a glass of champagne is served to you at your table as you watch the gentle scenery of Kent pass by. Suddenly, you are drawing into London Victoria station. It may be the end of your journey but the memories will last a lifetime.
